YMCA of the Golden Crescent Announces Arrival Of The SHTEAM Bus
Educational Bus Teaches Students Science, Health, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math
YMCA of the Golden Crescent today announced the launch of the SHTEAM Bus, an innovative educational vehicle designed to use Science, Health, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics to guide students’ critical thinking and create a dialogue that could lead to the future fulfillment of industry jobs. The bus is filled with hi-tech equipment and engaging experiential learning activities that are entertaining for both students and adults.
These activities allow students to take part in creative problem-solving and to collaborate with their peers. The activities on the bus will allow students to work with unique tools like the Anatomage Table, a 3D anatomy & physiology simulator. They will also have the opportunity to use a variety of 3D printers, professional microscopes, robotics, laptops, and participate in art projects.
William “Bud” Oliver, CEO of YMCA of the Golden Crescent said, “This is an outstanding opportunity for local youth to take part in an entertaining learning experience, and we are so grateful to our donors for their generous support. They really made it all possible.”
The SHTEAM Bus was purchased by the YMCA with donations from the M.G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation, the O’Connor & Hewitt Foundation, the Wood Family Trust, and the Cloyde & Ethel Lee Tracy Foundation. It will begin traveling to local schools and will be available to all children and adults, following the program’s launch.
